Oswego Speedway Releases 2022 Schedule of Events; Full Slates for Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and J&S Paving 350 Supers; Special Appearances by Winged Supers, Modifieds, and Super Stocks Highlight Exciting 71st Season Calendar
OSWEGO, NY (November 19, 2021) - Oswego Speedway officials are proud to release the full schedule of events for the track’s 71st season of action, set to begin on Saturday, May 28 with the return of the Port City 150 serving as the Season Opener.
The 2022 slate boasts 12-race weekends with nine feature events for Novelis Supermodifieds, ten for Pathfinder Bank SBS, eleven for the J&S Paving 350’s, plus three special appearances by both the Winged Supermodifieds and Super Stocks, and the return of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on Budweiser Classic Weekend 66.
Kicking it all off is the marquee ‘Port City’ event, absent from the Speedway schedule for nearly 30 years, but making its surprise return to the tune of a three division card for Supermodifieds, Small Block Supers, and 350 Supers on May 28.
The Novelis Supermodifieds will square off in the 75-lap Jim Shampine Memorial, and the SBS Tony White Memorial; increased to 40-laps, along with the 35-lap J&S Paving 350 Super main, will combine together for the 150-lap total.
One week later, the first of three Oswego Winged Supermodified Challenge Series events will take center stage on Saturday, June 4.
New in 2022, the Winged Challenge Series will bring together the stars of ISMA, MSS, and the Oswego Novelis Supers for a three race series on June 4, July 9, and August 13.
Each of the Winged Challenge Series events will pay a minimum of $6,000 to win, and offer the incentive of a $15,000 total point fund for the top 10 after the August 13 finale.
Following the inaugural Winged Challenge Series event, the Oswego Supers will return on Saturday, June 11, for their Twin 35’s. The Sunoco New York Super Stock Series will be the support card, joining the Big Block Supers for their first of three events at the Speedway this coming season.
Sticking with double features, the J&S Paving 350 Supers and Pathfinder Bank SBS will have a night all to themselves on Saturday, June 18, with both divisions running twin features at 25 and 20-laps in distance, respectively.
After a week off for high school graduation, the Speedway will roar back to life on Independence Weekend, Saturday, July 2, for the 75-lap Novelis Supermodified Grand Prix, 35-lap Pathfinder Bank SBS Grand Prix, 30-lap J&S Paving 350 Super Special, and the re-scheduled Sportsman Modified XMR, postponed from July of 2021.
The Oswego Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank SBS will have the week off following the July 2 Grand Prix, with the second Winged Challenge Series 50-lapper and a 30-lap J&S Paving 350 Super main providing an all-winged Supermodified card on July 9.
Each of the three Oswego divisions will be back in action on Saturday, July 16 for the ‘Summer Championship’ with a 50-lapper for the Novelis Supermodifieds, 30-lapper for Pathfinder Bank SBS, and 25-lapper for J&S Paving 350 Supers.
As always, the Speedway will start and end July with a bang, as the 35th Annual Mr. Novelis Supermodified event will close out the action-packed month of racing on Saturday, July 23.
Oswego Supermodifieds will race for 75-laps and $10,000 to win on July 23, Pathfinder Bank SBS will run their 35-lap, $1,500 to win Mr. Pathfinder Bank SBS main, and J&S Paving 350’s will also go extra-distance with a 30-lap, $2,000 to win Mr. 350 Supermodified feature event.
The track will go quiet on the final weekend of July for Harborfest and the Sandusky Speedway Hy-Miler.
Saturday, August 6th’s popular ‘Retro Night’ program and Old Timer’s Reunion will open up the final month of the ‘22 summer stretch, with Novelis Supermodifieds again throwing it back to a 45-lap main event, the Pathfinder Bank SBS will go 30-laps, and the Sunoco New York Super Stocks will return for a Dave London Memorial ‘Tune-Up’ 30-lapper.
The 60-lap Oswego Winged Challenge Series finale will again be paired up with a 30-lap J&S Paving 350 Super feature event, providing for a thrilling finale to the Winged Challenge Series points battle on Saturday, August 13.
Track Championship Night will be held Saturday, August 20, with the Novelis Supermodified, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and J&S Paving 350 Super Champions all crowned at the program’s conclusion.
Budweiser Classic Weekend 66, set for Friday, September 2 to Sunday, September 4, will cap off the 2022 schedule.
Friday afternoon will again bring ‘Pole Day’ time trials for Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and J&S Paving 350 Supers.
The DLM Super Stock 75-lap Dave London Memorial XIV will serve as the nightcap.
NASCAR Whelen Modified ground pounders will again be the Saturday headliner for a sixth consecutive season , with support divisions still to be announced.
Sunday’s card will be reserved for the 66th Budweiser International Classic 200 for Novelis Supermodifieds, 31st Pathfinder Bank SBS Bud Light Classic 75, and 5th Classic 40 for the J&S Paving 350 Supers.
Information on 2022 season tickets, individual tickets, and camping will be released after the New Year.
Driver registration for Oswego Speedway’s 2022 season will open on Saturday, January 1.
