2026 to Mark Final Running of Dave London Memorial XVIII; Super Stock Classic to Continue at Oswego Speedway
OSWEGO, NY (March 4, 2026) – The 2026 season at Oswego Speedway will mark the final running of the Dave London Memorial, as Dave London Memorial XVIII closes the chapter on one of Super Stock racing’s most meaningful and successful special events. The race, which has carried Dave London’s name since 2009, will return to its traditional Super Stock Classic title moving forward, with the 2026 edition serving as a heartfelt farewell to the Dave London Memorial name.
The event’s history stretches back to 2007, when it was first held at Wyoming County International Speedway. The race remained there for its first three runnings before later moving to Lancaster Motorplex in 2011 and 2012, then to Spencer Speedway from 2013 through 2018, before finding a home at Oswego Speedway beginning in 2019. That first season at the Speedway saw a record 46-car entry list, the largest field in the history of the event, and it has been contested at Oswego every season since.
Over its 18 editions, the Dave London Memorial has produced a standout list of winners and memorable performances. Jimmy Steffenhagen is the most successful driver in event history with four victories (2014, 2018, 2019, and 2021). Andy Cryan is the most recent repeat winner, capturing back-to-back victories in 2024 and 2025, while Garrett Zacharias earned consecutive wins in 2022 and 2023. Other winners include Tommy Catalano (2017), Billy Coyle (2016), Bill Frisbee (2015), Gary Noe (2013), Joe Mancuso (2012), Jay Mudra (2011), Billy Semmler (2009), and Mike Nichols (2007 and 2008). The event was not held in 2010.
Promoter Jody London of GTR Promotions reflected on the growth and impact of the race over its long run.
“We have taken this race to the highest of levels with the best, most consistent payout this class has ever seen in the Northeast. We’re so proud of what we have accomplished,” London said. “My Dad taught me in racing from the promoter’s side to ‘take care of the boys,’ and it’s been a great honor to have taken care of them for these past 17 events.”
London also explained the decision to conclude the event under the Dave London Memorial name.
“Life is ever changing, and prioritizing other aspects in my personal life has become more important to focus on. The DLM deserves 100 percent focus and commitment, and I can’t keep up to the level of commitment this race deserves. It's been a crazy 18 years, and I can’t begin to thank everyone enough who’s believed in this race for so long,” London said. “I also have to thank everyone at Oswego Speedway for being so welcoming and appreciative to have this race at such a prestigious institution. They’ve worked with us every step of the way, and it’s been refreshing to have a group that cares about the race as a whole the way they do.”
While Dave London Memorial XVIII will be the final running under that name, Super Stock fans can look forward to the event continuing into the future, as the GTR Super Stock Classic will be held at Oswego Speedway for many years to come, returning with the traditional “Super Stock Classic” title to the division.
Dave London was a championship-caliber racer, builder, promoter, and lifelong supporter of short track racing. He captured the 1998 Street Stock Championship at Wyoming County International Speedway and recorded multiple feature wins in Street Stock and Super Stock competition at Spencer Speedway, Fulton Speedway, and Wyoming County International Speedway.
As a driver-owner, London competed at Oswego Speedway, Pocono Raceway, Lancaster Motorplex, Wyoming County International Speedway, Weedsport Speedway, Canandaigua Speedway, Spencer Speedway, Chemung Speedrome, Shangri-La Speedway, and Cayuga Speedway (Jukasa). He also served on promotional teams for Spencer Speedway and the NASCAR Modified Tour Banquet, worked for Gater Racing News, and built his cars and engines in-house. A devoted Ford owner, London spent more than 30 seasons in the sport. He was happily married to the love of his life, Vickie Lee London, and was the proud father of Kimber Lee and Jody.
Before the farewell Dave London Memorial, the Super Stock division will once again make a pair of stops at Oswego Speedway in 2026, contesting four total features that will crown a Super Stock track champion. Garrett Zacharias will look to defend his title after becoming the first Super Stock champion at the Speedway since Bruce Stanton in 2004.
The 2026 Super Stock schedule at Oswego Speedway will include a 25-lap feature on June 20, the return of Twin 20-lap features on August 1, and conclude on Friday, September 4, with the final Dave London Memorial XVIII, a 50-lap event paying $4,000 to win.
