GTR Super Stock Mini Series to Crown Oswego Track Champion

By STEVEN PETTY

OSWEGO, NY (May 28, 2025) - The brand-new four-race GTR Promotions Super Stock Mini Series, announced in late 2024, will crown its overall point champion as an official Oswego Speedway track champion in 2025.

The four-race Mini Series will begin with a 25-lap event on Saturday, June 14. On Saturday, August 2, twin 20-lap events will be held with double points on the line. The championship will culminate on Friday, August 29 with the running of the Midstate Basement Authorities Dave London Memorial XVII as part of the 69th International Classic Weekend.

“We’re beyond excited to bring the Super Stock division back to Oswego Speedway after 20 years,” said Jody London of GTR Promotions. “A huge thank you to the Torrese family, Chuck Handley, and everyone at Oswego Speedway for their support in making this series a reality for 2025.”

For the first time in nearly two decades, Super Stock drivers will battle for an Oswego Speedway track championship. In the illustrious history of the Speedway, Lou LeVea Sr. (2000, 2001), Joe Miller (2002), Doug Reaume (2003), and Bruce Stanton (2004) are past champions of the division.

Hometown hero Griffin Miller of Oswego, NY is looking forward to racing at his home track.

“It’s been long overdue to bring the Super Stocks back to Oswego in season form, and I’m looking forward to competing at home,” Miller said. “Oswego is the crown jewel for any series in New York, especially the Super Stocks. Jody (London) has done a great job putting this together, and the drivers won’t let the fans down. I can almost guarantee that the Super Stocks will be the best racing of the night and full of action.”

Miller drives the Miller Machine and Mechanical, Outdoor Power No. 9 with help from his father.

Defending Dave London Memorial winner Andy Cryan is also excited to return to “The Steel Palace.”

“Oswego is one of the most historic tracks in the country, and having the chance to etch our name into that legacy as a track champion is something special,” Cryan said. “As the driver of the Emerling Motorsports/Julicher Racing Super Stock, the exposure we get being seen by everyone on FloRacing every race is second to none. I’m excited to go head-to-head with some of the top talent in the Northeast at Oswego. With the support of our crew and partners Tom’s Performance, PREMCOM, RJP Motorsports, and Emerling Ford, I truly believe that we’ve got what it takes to bring home the first Super Stock championship at Oswego in over two decades.”

Another driver making Oswego his 2025 focus is Canandaigua, NY’s Barrett Schenk.

“As soon as the news came out, we made it our focus for the 2025 season,” Schenk said. “The speed, competition, prestige, and history of ‘The Steel Palace’ is not only on an entirely different level compared to other tracks in New York, but Oswego gets my blood pumping. I get amped up every time we pull through the gates on East Albany Street.”

Schenk was victorious in a Super Stock event at Lancaster Motorplex in 2024, which earned him a qualifying spot for the Dave London Memorial.

“We finally won a race at Lancaster, and nothing could top that—except a victory at Oswego,” Schenk added. “I’m looking forward to getting on track there and seeing what we have in 2025.”

Schenk pilots the potent No. 51 entry backed by Mad Scientists at S&M Racing, Campbell’s Engines, Custom Shocks & Suspension, and Potter’s Uptown Automotive.

Buffalo, NY racer “Jazzy” Jeff Whalen is hoping the third time is the charm at Oswego.

“I’ve wrecked cars the last two times I’ve been there, so I’m hoping the third time will be the charm,” Whalen said.

Team 19 will debut a new look at Oswego with support from G Hughes Sugar Free, Hero Bread, Autopart International, Moser Engineering, Jocko’s Pizza & Pasta, and RJP Motorsports.

“Jody is a great promoter of Super Stock racing, and we will be there to support his events,” Whalen added.

Qualifying races for the Dave London Memorial, the Xtra Money Race for Sportsman Modifieds, and the New York State Compact Championship will be held at numerous tracks across the Northeast, including Chemung Speedrome, Evergreen Raceway, Lancaster Motorplex, and more.
