Osetek Racing Technologies Primed for 2023 Following Second International Classic Triumph at Oswego

Osetek Racing Technologies – MOORESVILLE, NC (November 22, 2022) – On the heels of their second victory in Oswego Speedway’s Budweiser International Classic 200, Osetek Racing Technologies is beginning work toward an even better 2023 campaign.

Following three victories at Oswego, and yet another run at a speedway track championship with veteran driver Dave Shullick Jr. at the controls, team owner Chris Osetek is excited for what is next.

“At this level, the work never really stops,” said Osetek. “We’re very fortunate to have a host of great partners that help keep us motivated all year long including TJ Toyota of Potsdam, Holiday Inn Express & Suites of Oswego, Cam’s Pizzeria, Ontario Orchards and Russell Fabrications. Thanks to them, we keep moving forward to improve our program.”

Moving forward is what Osetek Racing Technologies has done at Oswego since its inception in 2013.

Following several runner-up finishes early on, the team truly found its stride in 2017 as driver Keith Shampine scored two main event wins and sat on the pole for the 2017 Budweiser International Classic.

Expanding to two teams in 2019, both Shampine and Shullick would find victory lane with Shullick notching a runner-up in the Classic. Then in 2021, it all came together, as Shullick stormed to five wins, the speedway’s track title and the team’s first Classic victory.

Fast forward to last season and Shullick again found himself in a title fight, this time with the likes of Brandon Bellinger, Jeff Abold and Dave Danzer.

Two wins during the regular season and six top ten finishes were enough to put Shullick in a tie with Bellinger heading into the season’s final feature event. However, a main event spin in the second turn would relegate Shullick to third in the championship standings.

Despite the setback, the Osetek team bounced back and took advantage of a fuel starved Michael Barnes to win consecutive International Classics on Labor Day Weekend.

Since the team’s start in 2013, Osetek Racing Technologies has now racked up 11 feature wins at Oswego, two victories in the International Classic, two Classic pole positions and a coveted track championship.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the team effort we have had in the last handful of years,” said Osetek. “The last two years we have had major crashes that we have managed to come back from, stronger than we started. That is a testament to everyone that works on our racecars and supports our team.”

Aside from their efforts at Oswego Speedway, the Osetek team took on the new challenge of preparing their second Supermodified for winged action with the International Supermodified Association.

The car debuted at Sandusky Speedway’s Hy-Miler Classic and with former Hy-Miler champion Shullick on the wheel, the machine rallied from its 12th starting position to take the race lead on lap 60. Unfortunately, with the victory in sight, the engine let go. However, after topping the charts in hot laps and qualifying fourth fastest on the day, the Osetek team now has even more to look forward to next season.

Shullick, a two-time speedway champion and Classic winner, believes that the best is yet to come for Osetek Racing Technologies.

“We had some ups and downs last year but overall, 2022 was a good year for us,” said Shullick. “Of course, ending the year by winning the Classic never hurts, but hopefully that gives us some positive momentum heading into 2023. Chris has been working hard this offseason to make improvements. We have some cool things planned that we believe should improve both of our cars for the coming year.”

The full Oswego Speedway schedule is now available at www.oswegospeedway.com. The season will officially open for the Novelis Supermodified division on Saturday, May 27 with the running of the 75-lap Jim Shampine Memorial.

Fans can keep up to date this offseason and through 2023 by following the team’s new Facebook page – Osetek Racing.
