Best of 2007: Gruel, Ritskes and Brittain win on Community Bank Memorial Day Weekend. by Oswego Speedway

Dave Gruel, Pete Brittain and Randy Ritskes made the Memorial Day Weekend racing at the Oswego Speedway an exciting evening with close victories in the Small Block Super, RoC Modified and Supermodified triple header on Burritt Motors and Community Bank night.

Best of 2007: Knopp and Gosek win as National NCAA Champion Oswego Lakers are honored. by Oswego Speedway

Kevin Knopp and Joe Gosek put their black machines in Victory Lane for popular wins on Lighthouse Lanes, Warner Physical Therapy and Oswego Sub Shop Night. For Knopp it was the first win in his brand new FFB #04. For Gosek, he has won both races that he has finished in his new Xtreme #00 in the young 2007 season at the Oswego Speedway. Gosek's brother Ed, was a Speedway guest as he was interviewed about his 2006-2007 NCAA Division III National Championship Oswego State Great Laker Hockey Team on "Minor Hockey League Night" at the Speedway.

Two champions made it to Victory Lane for the first time in the 2007 at Oswego Speedway on July 7th.  Defending International Classic Champion Greg Furlong got his first regular season win since the 2005 season at Oswego with an impressive win on a race night that was co-sponsored by one of his sponsors, Ferris Industries. Defending SBS Classic and Track Champion Russ Brown, tasted victory for the first time in 2007 as well. Jeffrey Abold, the son of a former Champion picked up career win number two at Oswego.

A glimpse into the future of supermodified racing was on display Saturday night June 9th at the Oswego Speedway. Nearly three dozen of the best winged supermodified cars from the East and Midwest got together for the inaugural Days Inn MSA-Oswego Wings Challenge Series. MSA hot shoe DJ Shullick picked up the win to tie Tim Jedrzejek for the all time lead in MSA feature wins. Alan Barker picked up the win in the companion SBS Racing Series Feature.

Michael Barnes is slowly showing that his rapid climb through the divisions of cars at the Oswego Speedway is with good cause. Barnes picked up his second consecutive win in the Novelis Supermodified division on Alliance Bank and AT&T Independence Weekend.

The 2007 Oswego Speedway Schedule Shirt says it all, “Rising Stars of New School”. Both Josh LaRochelle and Michael Barnes are featured across the bottom of the shirts with “Legends of Old School” Jimmy Shampine and Maynard Troyer across the top. LaRochelle had already visited Victory Lane in 2007 in the PathFinder Bank SBS Series and Barnes, the other rising star, picked up his first win in the Novelis Supermodified Division on Dunkin Donuts and RJ Caruso Tax & Accounting Night. Larry Muroski picked up his second SBS win of the year as well.

The Community Bank / Days Inn / Parts Plus Memorial Day Weekend racing at the Oswego Speedway provided popular wins in the Novelis Supermodified, PathFinder Bank Limited Super and RoC Modified divisions. Otto Sitterly, Chris Proud and Mike Leaty all ran good races to take home the first place money on May 27th.

Best of 2006: Otto Sitterly edges out Tim Snyder on Inkspot & Empire Federal Credit Union night. by Oswego Speedway

71SitterlyVL_200.jpgOtto Sitterly staved off a strong challenge from Tim Snyder to win a 75-lap feature and retain his place atop the supermodified point standings at Oswego Speedway Saturday night. Last season, Sitterly was on the verge of excusing himself from the Steel Palace with his previous No. 79 car on the auction block, although he did drive for certain other drivers and never closed the door on Oswego Speedway altogether. Now, he finds himself surrounded by well-wishers and autograph seekers at the close of each successful race.

78SitterlyVL.jpgOtto Sitterly continued his dominance at Oswego Speedway this season as he picked up his fourth win of the year Saturday night in the Novelis Supermodified division.  Dave Gruel became the sixth winner in six races in the PathFinder Bank Limited Super division and Rick Zeigler made it back to back wins in the Jakes Automotive Super Stock division.

On Burkes Home Center / Lighthouse Lanes night, Saturday August 26th at the Oswego Speedway, three drivers got into Victory Lane in the richest races of the regular season and all three were crowned their divisions Track Champions as well. Jason Spaulding, Russ Brown and Otto Sitterly all left the track as Champions.
