The high powered sound of one of Central New York’s hottest bands is sure to be a popular concert for their faithful followers.

BOCES and sponsors make the Kids On-Track "Mini-Supermodifieds" a reality in 2006.

KoT8_200.jpgThe long awaited debut of the new Kids on-Track "Mini-Supermodifieds" will be Saturday June 17th at the Oswego Speedway before the regular night of racing begins. Four elementary aged school children in the Oswego School district will be the first drivers of these unique cars that were created from scratch by students who attend Oswego County BOCES.

dunkin_120x60.jpgDunkin Donuts’ and Key Bank lend their support to the big night of racing on tap this weekend here at the Oswego Speedway. Racing action gets underway one hour earlier at 5:00 to make room for a full night of action. On the regular 5/8’s mile track will be the Novelis Supermodifieds and the PathFinder Bank Limited Supers. Joining them on the 3/8’s mile track this weekend will be the USAC Ford Focus Midgets, The Can-Am TQ Midgets and the Briggs & Stratton Tobias Slingshots. On Friday night, the Tobias Slingshots will break-in the brand new oval dirt track behind the back grandstands for the first ever race on that lay-out.

We have a little different kind of racing in store this weekend, as we go full bodied stock car racing.  The stars and cars of the ASA Late Model Series make a much anticipated stop at Oswego Speedway this weekend for one of their marquee events.  A full card of time trials, a shootout, and 200 lap Fleet Pride 200 is on the docket for the Midwestern based organization.  In addition to the ASA cars, a full show of supermodifieds is on the card as well.

The history of today's ASA Late Model Series

Formed in 2002 by President Ron Varney and Race Director Chris Throgmartin, USPRO Cup took shape using input from racers by designing rules centered on a mission statement. The rules were molded from this input with stability, reliability; cost effectiveness and performance all cornerstones of the development behind USPRO. GM Racing, Howe Racing Enterprises and Port City Racing were among the racing industry companies contacted during the formation of the series. From those original ideas the series was born and was taken public after feasibility study conducted by Stone Vos proved that grassroots racing had a need for a financially viable and cost-controlled traveling series.

Rain washes out June 3rd racing. June 24th open date is now "Family Night" at Oswego.

With the forecast for persistent showers moving through the Oswego area for much of Saturday June 3rd, the "Family Night" racing schedule had to be cancelled. The Oswego Speedway management decided that instead of just losing the show altogether, they would still want to have a "Family Night" as soon as they could. With a complete cancellation, the PathFinder Bank Limited Supers would have been reduced to racing just one feature in the month of June. The decision was made to take the open night on the Speedway schedule, June 24th, and turn that into a "Family Night".

ASA Late Model Series comes to Oswego Speedway June 10th for the Fleet Pride 200

Fleet Pride, America’s premier nationwide supplier of truck and trailer parts and service, is happy to be the primary sponsor of the ASA Late Model Series Challenge at the Oswego Speedway on Saturday June 10. The ASA Late Model Series will be making one of ten "Challenge Series" events between the North and South Touring Series’ at the Oswego Speedway on June 10th. The schedule is a full one on Saturday June 10th as ASA practice begins at 11:00 and Supermodified practice begins at 2:30. There is a 1:00 Sunday "Rain Date" for the event.

Sitterly and LaRochelle take small point leads into the June 3rd racing action at Oswego

Sitterly and LaRochelle have each visited Mimi’s Drive-In Victory Lane in preliminary and feature action in this young 2006 season. LaRochelle came home as the opening day winner back on May 7th and Sitterly picked up the Jim Shampine Memorial feature on May 27th.

ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division points leader Kelly Bires and current fourth place points holder, Travis Dassow were guests on Joe Marotta’s live radio show this past Sunday morning from 9:00 to 10:00. Both Kelly and Travis talked about their upcoming appearance at the Oswego Speedway on Saturday June 10th in the inaugural running of the ASA Fleet Pride 200.
