It was also said that the best thing about opening week was, there is a second week. Saturday night had a little bit of everything. There were a lot of cars, but there weren’t a lot of cars that through the night clean. There was big time oil down, and multi car wrecks, but we still were done really early. There was a big dark cloud over the speedway during the heat races, that sent everyone pitside running for covers for their cars, but somehow it missed us. The racing gods sure were with us last Saturday night. Just when something looked like it may put a damper on the night, it just as quickly went away. | | Read

By Oswego Speedway :: 746 Views :: News | Weekend long rains postponed the scheduled practice session last weekend. First, Saturday was washed out by on and off showers, and then all day rains forced an early cancellation to the warm up session. We’ll give it a go again today, using the same time frame as last weekend. Gates open at 10am, with inspection to follow. Spectator gates open at noon, with cars on the track from 1-5pm.

The Torreses have purchased many thousand dollars worth of new foam blocks to line the walls with, to “cushion” the damage in the event of an accident. Foam blocks have been responsible over the years for preventing THOUSANDS of dollars worth of damage, and countless injuries to the drivers.

New Oswego Speedway owners Eric and John Torrese have announced that all children 16 years of age and younger, when accompanied by a parent, will get free admission to the races. The only exceptions are for Race of Champions Weekend, The Sprint Cup/Indy event, and Classic Weekend. John Torrese said, “It’s important to get young people interested in racing so we can keep growing the sport. To do that, we are offering parents the opportunity to bring their children to the races for free.”

By Oswego Speedway :: 2999 Views :: News | Tuesday afternoon, ownership of the historic race track along Lake Ontario was transferred from Pat Furlong and Steve Gioia to brother's John and Eric Torrese. The Torrese's are the third ownership group at Oswego Speedway since it was built in 1951. The Caruso family built and owned the track from 1951 to April 2004.
"We bought it for the love of the speedway," new co-owner Eric Torrese said Tuesday evening. "There is no good business reason to buy it, we just love the place and the allure to it. There is a lot of work to do to it, but we will improve it. There will be a lot of changes, we just hope everyone is patient with us."
