| Friday, March 31, 2006 | | Five Car Ray Graham Team Anxious for 2006 Supermodified Season
By Oswego Webmaster :: 1763 Views :: News | “We’re looking to have some fun, and can’t wait to get the season started,” six year supermodified veteran Ray Graham said in anticipation of the 2006 season. You can hardly blame Graham for being so itchy to get 2006 started. It’s no secret that Hawk Chassis dominated the 2005 supermodified season, and Ray took delivery of a Hawk just hours before Classic Weekend last year. The team was still putting the finishing touches on the car as the weekend progressed. “We’re hoping to run the full season,” the Iowa resident added. “With the schedule the way it is this year, it’s more manageable for us. We’ll see how the first month goes, and take it from there.” | | Read

By Oswego Webmaster :: 1896 Views :: News | | | Keith Shampine picks up the 2005 Terrells Potato Chips Supermodified “Rookie of the Year” award from Oswego Speedway representative Debbie Bond at the year-end banquet last October. | As the Central New York snow banks turn into puddles, thoughts begin to turn to the local racing scene. Teams have been working all winter long, with May 13 circled on Oswego Speedway calendars. Opening day is just seven weeks away, and everyone begins the final crunch to get ready for the 56th consecutive season of racing at Oswego Speedway.
There is one new team that has been tucked away in the garage all winter, getting to know their new machine. 2005 Supermodified Rookie of the Year Keith Shampine and his father Ed have started their own new team for the 2006 season. At the end of Keith’s rookie year, they went to work looking for a car of their own. After looking high and low, and lot of hard work, they hit pay dirt. Keith explained, “We looked at the Witkum 85 car a few weeks after the season was over. Joe called me one day, and we began to put a deal together.” | | Read

| Wednesday, March 22, 2006 | | Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour offering participating Speedway Point Bonus in 2006.
By Oswego Webmaster :: 1222 Views :: News |  |
BINGHAMTON, NY…The Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour is set to go green on Sunday, May 7th as part of the “Open Wheel Extravaganza” at Oswego Speedway. Teams competing on the series this year will have an opportunity to earn “participating speedway bonus points”
The “participating speedway point bonus” will award a 50 point bonus toward the overall R.o.C title to teams that compete in a total of three non point races at participating R.o.C facilities. Teams just need to compete in three non R.o.C events prior to September 3rd in order to qualify for the bonus points. Officials at both Mahoning Valley Speedway and Lancaster Raceway Park are hosting several events during the season that are non-handicapped shows so that the top R.o.C stars would not be at a handicap with regards to their starting positions.
“We put this bonus program into effect to help the participating facilities lure in some of our top R.o.C teams on off weekends,” commented Tour Director Andrew Harpell. He added, “Fans can count on seeing more of our teams at their home speedway during the summer which will certainly add to the quality of the event.” | | Read

| Wednesday, March 15, 2006 | | OCNB to Sponsor 20th Anniversary Event at Oswego Speedway
By Oswego Webmaster :: 1204 Views :: News | OCNB has signed on to co-sponsor the 20th running of the Novelis Mr. Supermodified “$10,000 to Win” race on Saturday July 22nd. This continues the sponsorship for OCNB as a race night sponsor and elevates their presence to one of the biggest racing weekends of the season at the Oswego Speedway. | | OCNB Marketing Director Jamie Stack (left) presents Bob Goutermout a personalized embroidered jacket after he won on OCNB Twin 30’s night in 2005. Speedway representative Sandy Powers holds the winning plaque for Goutermout. |
OCNB’s sponsorship of the Mr. Supermodified event marks the 20th running of this famous race at the Oswego Speedway. For feature winners Gene Lee Gibson (1987), Mike Muldoon (1988) and Tim Gareau (1997) the “$10,000 to Win” event was their first ever trip to victory lane in a supermodified feature at the Oswego Speedway. Defending “Mr. Supermodified” champion Greg Furlong has won the event twice but will not be on hand in 2006 because he will be racing in the USAC Silver Crown series that weekend. The all-time leader in victories in the “Mr. Supermodified” event is Mike Ordway whose six wins have come in 1990, 1991, 1993, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Mike Ordway’s car owner, Clyde Booth, may be moving his supermodified race operation back to New York State from North Carolina for 2006 and this could be a year that Mike Ordway returns to dominance in the #61 at the Oswego Speedway and even captures a seventh title in the Novelis “Mr. Supermodified” event. | | Read

| Friday, March 10, 2006 | | New Oswego Speedway Website is Launched
By Oswego Webmaster :: 1835 Views :: News | The Oswego Speedway is proud to unveil its new website as of March 10, 2006. The site is expected to give Oswego Speedway fans state-of-the-art experiences following their favorite race track and race car drivers. Each of the first two summers that the Oswego Speedway has been under new ownership there have been constant improvements to reaching the fans through the websites that were used. This final upgrade is the result of several months of looking at what the industry has to offer to race fans who want to choose between having all of the news that is available and having selective news in a hurry.
Racinkid Productions owner Matt Thomas has undergone the task of re-creating the new website for the Oswego Speedway. Matt currently operates several websites including DirtVision and AsphaltVision. Through his company Thomas Video Productions, Matt and his father Mel brought Live Audio and Live Video to Oswego Speedway race fans during the 2005 season at the Oswego Speedway. You can look for more exciting innovations from Matt and Mel through the new website during the 2006 season as well. Newly appointed Webmaster Ted Starr will be continuing to develop an maintain the site throughout 2006.
