Last August Lee Sherwood of Hillcrest, NY was seven laps away from his first career Oswego feature win until he ran out of gas. This past Sunday in the Gater Racing News / Parts Plus Auto Stores sponsored Open Wheel Extravaganza. Sherwood finally had things go his way for once in the 75 lap Race of Champions ( RoC ) Asphalt Modified Central Region feature.

Chris Perley and Josh LaRochelle started out the season in winning fashion as they picked up feature wins at Oswego Speedway Sunday afternoon.  Perley put on a dazzling performance in dominating the ISMA 50 lap race.    LaRochelle carried momentum from 2005 as he was the fastest car all weekend in the limited division all weekend long and capped it off with his first Oswego Speedway limited supermodified win.

After two weekends of long range forecasts for rain that have given way to good and great weekends, the long range forecast for the earlier than usual Oswego Speedway opener was also in doubt. All of that has changed and the first ever “Open Wheel Extravaganza” will go off as scheduled on Sunday afternoon May 7th at 1:00 sharp. A partly sunny brisk Spring afternoon will greet the fans and competitors who are in attendance on Sunday afternoon at the Oswego Speedway.

Fleet Pride has increased their exposure at the Oswego Speedway in 2006 by providing sponsorship to a brand new Pre-Race Show hosted by Roy Sova and Joe Marotta. The Fleet Pride Pre-Race Report will be a live program that will be available to registered users of the Oswego Speedway website. The program will air most weeks in the 3:00 to 3:30 time slot starting May 13th and will feature news from the upcoming event along with guests selected by Roy and Joe.

After a quiet and long off season the Oswego Speedway will roar to life one week earlier than normal in 2006. Sunday afternoon, May 7th has been set for the first ever “Open Wheel Extravaganza” sponsored by Gater Racing News and Parts Plus. The racing card is full of a little bit of everything for the open wheel racing enthusiast.

The Oswego Speedway announces that the pricing for Six Pack Passes, Grandstand and Pit area Season Passes will be reduced for 2006. In addition, grandstand season passes will have the option to include Classic Week tickets for the first time in over fifteen years and pit area season passes will have the option to include Classic Week admission for the first time ever.

The Oswego Speedway is proud to announce that with significant support from sponsors that the 2006 regular feature pay-out will increase in both the Novelis Supermodified and PathFinder Bank Limited Super divisions for 2006. The extra distance feature purses were increased in 2005 and these new sponsor bonuses are the first regular feature raises in the pay-out to drivers in a number of years. The pay increase to drivers has been made possible by sponsorship deals with Shell Oil, Novelis and Hoosier. Another weekly contingency award from maid Pro will also help to increase the take home money for drivers in 2006.
