OCNB to Sponsor 20th Anniversary Event at Oswego Speedway
By Oswego Webmaster :: 823 Views :: News
ocnb_120x60.jpg        OCNB has signed on to co-sponsor the 20th running of the Novelis Mr. Supermodified “$10,000 to Win” race on Saturday July 22nd. This continues the sponsorship for OCNB as a race night sponsor and elevates their presence to one of the biggest racing weekends of the season at the Oswego Speedway.

OCNB Marketing Director Jamie Stack (left) presents Bob Goutermout a personalized embroidered jacket after he won on OCNB Twin 30’s night in 2005. Speedway representative Sandy Powers holds the winning plaque for Goutermout.

OCNB’s sponsorship of the Mr. Supermodified event marks the 20th running of this famous race at the Oswego Speedway. For feature winners Gene Lee Gibson (1987), Mike Muldoon (1988) and Tim Gareau (1997) the “$10,000 to Win” event was their first ever trip to victory lane in a supermodified feature at the Oswego Speedway. Defending “Mr. Supermodified” champion Greg Furlong has won the event twice but will not be on hand in 2006 because he will be racing in the USAC Silver Crown series that weekend. The all-time leader in victories in the “Mr. Supermodified” event is Mike Ordway whose six wins have come in 1990, 1991, 1993, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Mike Ordway’s car owner, Clyde Booth, may be moving his supermodified race operation back to New York State from North Carolina for 2006 and this could be a year that Mike Ordway returns to dominance in the #61 at the Oswego Speedway and even captures a seventh title in the Novelis “Mr. Supermodified” event.
