We have a little different kind of racing in store this weekend, as we go full bodied stock car racing.  The stars and cars of the ASA Late Model Series make a much anticipated stop at Oswego Speedway this weekend for one of their marquee events.  A full card of time trials, a shootout, and 200 lap Fleet Pride 200 is on the docket for the Midwestern based organization.  In addition to the ASA cars, a full show of supermodifieds is on the card as well.

Formed in 2002 by President Ron Varney and Race Director Chris Throgmartin, USPRO Cup took shape using input from racers by designing rules centered on a mission statement. The rules were molded from this input with stability, reliability; cost effectiveness and performance all cornerstones of the development behind USPRO. GM Racing, Howe Racing Enterprises and Port City Racing were among the racing industry companies contacted during the formation of the series. From those original ideas the series was born and was taken public after feasibility study conducted by Stone Vos proved that grassroots racing had a need for a financially viable and cost-controlled traveling series.

Many long standing appearances on behalf of the Oswego Speedway will begin by various race teams and drivers in the coming weeks. For many people this is a great opportunity to get an up-close look at a car or meet a driver in a casual setting. Some of the appearances even go as far as promoting some good in areas away from racing.

With the forecast for persistent showers moving through the Oswego area for much of Saturday June 3rd, the "Family Night" racing schedule had to be cancelled. The Oswego Speedway management decided that instead of just losing the show altogether, they would still want to have a "Family Night" as soon as they could. With a complete cancellation, the PathFinder Bank Limited Supers would have been reduced to racing just one feature in the month of June. The decision was made to take the open night on the Speedway schedule, June 24th, and turn that into a "Family Night".

Fleet Pride, America’s premier nationwide supplier of truck and trailer parts and service, is happy to be the primary sponsor of the ASA Late Model Series Challenge at the Oswego Speedway on Saturday June 10. The ASA Late Model Series will be making one of ten "Challenge Series" events between the North and South Touring Series’ at the Oswego Speedway on June 10th. The schedule is a full one on Saturday June 10th as ASA practice begins at 11:00 and Supermodified practice begins at 2:30. There is a 1:00 Sunday "Rain Date" for the event. 

Otto Sitterly and Josh LaRochelle are the points leaders going into the June 3rd "2 for 1" Family Admission Night at the Oswego Speedway. Sitterly and LaRochelle have each visited Mimi’s Drive-In Victory Lane in preliminary and feature action in this young 2006 season. LaRochelle came home as the opening day winner back on May 7th and Sitterly picked up the Jim Shampine Memorial feature on May 27th.

ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division points leader Kelly Bires and current fourth place points holder, Travis Dassow were guests on Joe Marotta’s live radio show this past Sunday morning from 9:00 to 10:00. Both Kelly and Travis talked about their upcoming appearance at the Oswego Speedway on Saturday June 10th in the inaugural running of the ASA Fleet Pride 200.

This week is the first of two “2 for 1” Family Admission Nights at the Oswego Speedway in 2006 at the Oswego Speedway. RJ Caruso Tax & Accounting team up with C& B Farm & Garden / Piggers Liquors / Pig Pens Party Barn to sponsor this event each year. The night starts off with the Constellation & Entergy Kids autograph session on the track at 5:15 before the racing action starts. The night ends with a 30 lap Enduro on the 5/8’s track and a Demolition Derby on the front straight.

Saturday night June 3rd is the first of three special aluminum recycling nights at the Oswego Speedway in 2006. The Oswego Novelis Works in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity will be holding a can collection across the street from the Speedway on the corner of Shampine Drive and East Albany Street. Novelis will be encouraging everyone to buy aluminum cans and recycle…making every can count.

Fans coming out on "Two for One" family admission night will be treated to the first of two Enduros for 2006 and the annual Demolition Derby which will both be held after the racing action has come to an end. The Constellation and Entergy "Autograph Session" will start the night off and the first Kids On-Track "Mini-Supermodified" rides will take place on that night.
