Best of 2006: Otto Sitterly flips upside down then wins on Cingular & Oswego Bagelry night.
By Oswego Speedway :: 2904 Views :: News, Race Recap

715SitterlyVL_200.jpgLegend has it that Ed Bellinger Sr. once blew an engine in the old stock car days at the Oswego Speedway. The team loaded the car and traveled up old Route 57 to Calkins Road while unbolting the engine. They got to their garage, loaded in a new engine and bolted it in on the way back to the Speedway. Well sure enough he went out and won the feature when they returned. As amazing as that fete was in its day, it doesn’t even compare to what Otto Sitterly, his crew and the crews of many other cars did on Saturday night at the Oswego Speedway.

Otto absolutely destroyed the front end of his Novelis Supermodified #79 in his heat race as he flipped upside down hard into the turn two fence. At the end of the night Otto was sitting in Victory Lane after capturing his fifth win in six feature races this season at Oswego. Greg Furlong back behind the wheel of the #72 overcame his own problems during the night and finished in the runner up position. Tim Gareau came home in third place for the third consecutive week. Bob Bond was in fourth and Pat Lavery rounded out the top five. The Colosse Cheese Hard Charger was Otto Sitterly. The Hollister Insurance Hard Luck driver was Jerry Curran. The Steve’s Up & Comer winner was Bob Bond. The Maid pro Clean Sweep was not picked up on Saturday and rolls over to next week.  The complete order of finish and lap charts can be viewed in the AMB Scoring section of the Results tab on the Speedway website.

In the PathFinder Bank Limited Super division, it was the first repeat winner of the season as Josh LaRochelle brought the Outdoor Power #10 home in first place. Defending Track Champion Russ Brown finished in second. Last week’s feature winner Dave Gruel was in third. Lou Levea came home in fourth and Mark Regan rounded out the top five. The Cutro Professional Inspections Hard Charger was Doug Reaume. The Butler Disposal Hard Luck driver was Chris Proud. The Bob Andrews Motor Sales Up & Comer winner was Cameron Rowe. The Whites Car Care 4th Place Bonus was won by Lou LeVea. The Maid Pro Clean Sweep was not picked up on Saturday night and rolls over to next week. The complete order of finish and lap charts can be viewed in the AMB Scoring section of the Results Tab on the Speedway website.

In the Jakes Automotive Super Stock division it was three wins in three times out for Rick Zeigler. Eric Connors was the runner-up. Jeff Merritt, Dave Fetterly and Jason Spaulding rounded out the top five.

The balance of the finishing order: 6. Mike Scorzelli; 7. Bobby Newman; 8. Danny Kapuscinski; 9. Randy Storms; 10. Ken Traver; 11. Chad LeRoy; 12. Joe Miller; 13. Jason Dinzler; 14. Brad Haynes; 15. Brian Hardy; 16. Todd Rhoads; The Ken Tibbles Roofing random bonus was won by Brad Haynes who finished in 14th place. The Jakes Automotive Up & Comer Award went to Eric Connors.
