 When was the last time you saw Pat Abold, Eddie Bellinger or Doug Heveron on the track at the Oswego Speedway? Hall of Famers Davey Hamilton and Bentley Warren, both of whom will be racing this weekend, will join Abold, Bellinger, Heveron, Greg Furlong and Joe Gosek as the Oswego Speedway presents the first ever Ride with the Legends.
Three people have already purchased rides with each of the drivers, with the exception of Bentley Warren. Friday evening, at the Party in the Pits, one more ride with each of the drivers, and that one special ride with Bentley Warren, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Bidding on all of the drivers will start at $150.00. A portion of the proceeds will go to Cleaning for a Reason. Tom Heveron, who along with Cleaning for a Reason sponsors the Oswego Speedway Supermodified Rookie of the Year and Classic Rookie of the Year, said, “This is a great way to not only take a ride with a legendary Oswego Speedway driver, but also to help a great organization.” Cleaning for a Reason provides cleaning services for women suffering from cancer who are unable to do house work on their own. It operates in all 50 states and two Canadian provinces. The main grandstand will open at 8:30 Saturday morning for those who want to watch the Legends drive the 2-seat Supermodified. Rides will start at 9:00 with Greg Furlong being the first driver. He will be followed at 9:25 by Eddie Bellinger, Joe Gosek at 9:50, Pat Abold at 10:15, Davey Hamilton at 10:40, Doug Heveron at 11:05, and Bentley Warren at 11:30. The large gates into the pits will be closed from 8:45 until the Ride with the Legends program is completed. 2-seat Supermodified Coordinator Roy Sova said that by doing that “we will be able to run the rides as quickly as possible so teams will be able to get into the pits and prepare for practice which starts at 1:30.” Once the Legend rides are over the grandstand will be cleared, and then re-opened to those with tickets to see the ISMA Supermodifieds, SBS Classic, and the American TQ Midgets. |
