The Community Bank / Days Inn / Parts Plus Memorial Day Weekend racing at the Oswego Speedway provided popular wins in the Novelis Supermodified, PathFinder Bank Limited Super and RoC Modified divisions. Otto Sitterly, Chris Proud and Mike Leaty all ran good races to take home the first place money on May 27th. Otto Sitterly moved into first place on lap number 43 of the Jim Shampine Memorial 75 lap featrure and was never seriously challenged over the final thirty two laps. For the ten laps prior to taking the lead you could throw a blanket over Tim Snyder, Otto Sitterly, Craig Rayvals, Greg Furlong and Tim Gareau as they raced wheel to wheel. Shortly after Sitterly took the lead he opened up a comfortable margin. Gareau and Furlong came together on lap 45 and neither was a factor after that. Sitterly was followed across the line by Tim Snyder, Todd Stowell, Jerry Curran and Craig Rayvals rounded out the top five. Burkes Home Center heat races went to Snyder, Sitterly and Furlong. The Steve’s Body Shop Up and Comer was Jerry Curran. The Colosse Cheese Hard Charger was Tim Snyder. The Maid Pro Clean Sweep Bonus was collected by feature winner Otto Sitterly. Chris Proud was the class of the field in the inaugural Tony White Memorial 35. He held off a charging Russ Brown for the win. Mark Regan, driving the former Tony White #4 came home in third place. Opening day winner, Josh LaRochelle was fourth and Lou LeVea rounded out the top five. Cooks Jewelers heat races went to Chris Proud, Michael Barnes, Mike Bond and Brian Sobus. The Bob Andrews Up and Comer was Alan Barker. The Cutro Inspections Hard Charger was Dave Gruel. The Whites Car Care 4th place bonus went to Josh LaRochelle. The Maid Pro Clean Sweep bonus was picked up by feature winner Chris Proud. The Race of Champions Parts Plus Richie Evans Memorial 100 was won by second generation and first time Oswego Speedway winner, Mike Leaty. Leaty lead a strong contingent of drivers down to the finish. Matt Hirschmann was second. A charging Eric Beers came home in third. Bobby Holmes was fourth and the winner’s father, Jan Leaty, came across the line in fifth. The surprise of the night came from second time RoC competitor Ryan Peece who ran in third place for more than the first 75 laps of the 100 lap feature. The win for Leaty was a popular one for the youngster. The AMB Timing and Scoring system was not functioning for the second race in a row. File reports from various beat writers will be posted to the website when received. Next up on the Oswego Schedule is “2 for 1” Family Admission Night on Saturday June 3rd. A kids autograph session will be held before the racing action and the night will be capped off with the spring Enduro and the annual Demolition Derby. |
