Defending 2005 International Classic and Track Champion, Greg Furlong will be back to defend his Jim Shampine Memorial title on May 27th as one of his race team sponsors, Community Bank NA, will be back to co-sponsor the event. Furlong who had things pretty much his way in 2005 may not have things so easy for 2006 as other "Hawk Chassis" drivers have shown that they are ready to do battle for the front position with him.

Tim Snyder won the final two races of the 2005 season with his new Hawk Chassis. Ray Graham scored an impressive second place finish in the ISMA feature at Oswego on May 7th with his Hawk Chassis. Otto Sitterly turned heads in practice with the original Hawk Chassis and made it to Mimi’s Drive-In Victory Lane in the first ever heat event he was in on May 13th.  There are other Hawk Chassis' under construction that may make their way onto the Speedway surface before the season is over.

Furlong has indicated that the Community Bank sponsored event is only one of a handful of appearances that he will make at Oswego in 2006 because of his commitment to the USAC Silver Crown Series. Fans who saw the #72 blaze its way to twelve victories in twelve events he finished in 2005 at the Oswego Speedway are likely to see him being challenged in each of his appearances by the above mentioned Hawk Chassis drivers and the other group of front runners who have made adjustments to their cars in the past off-season.

Friday night May 26th will be an Open Practice from 6:00 to 9:00 with free grandstand admission. On Saturday the 27th, fans are reminded to bring their ticket stubs and wristbands from the May 13th cancellation for $9 grandstand admission and free pit admission for the big Memorial Day Weekend tripleheader. The race day schedule includes the Jim Shampine Memorial 75 for the Novelis Supermodifieds, the Richie Evans Memorial 100 for the RoC Modifieds and the Tony White Memorial 25 for the PathFinder Bank Limited Supers.
