$50 in cans earns fans a $100 Classic "Three Day Pass" at final Novelis collection event.

The 2009 Oswego Speedway and Novelis can recycling program looks to improve on the record setting numbers that race fans have turned in over the past three racing seasons at Oswego. August 1st is the final collection date on the 2009 racing schedule for fans to bring in their recyclable aluminum cans in exchange for Classic Weekend tickets and other Oswego Speedway prizes.

The recycling can program prizes offered for 2009 have focused on reducing the overall cost of a night out at the Oswego Speedway on the special events that are scheduled on the three can collection nights. Classic Weekend tickets and Season Passes will still be the primary prizes that are awarded. New for 2009 was a random drawing at each collection date for a night for two in the VIP Tower.

The final “Get your can to the Speedway” Novelis recycling collection date is the August 1st “Mr. Novelis Supermodified” and "Mr. PathFinder Bank SBS" night from 3:00 to 6:00. Since all fans had to purchase a race ticket on the dates of the collections to earn any prizes that are offered, it was decided to offer the fans instant relief on these three race nights once they enter the speedway.

The donation of 200 or more New York State 5 cent recyclable cans from the same household on any recycling can collection date will earn one family member a $10 Food Voucher for the concession stands on that night. The top three donating households at each event, with more than 1,000 cans turned in, will win grandstand general admission for two on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Classic Weekend with a retail value of $242. Additionally, one fan at random will be selected at each collection date and they will win (2) VIP Tower Passes. These six fans from the three VIP drawings will all be guests of the Oswego Speedway on Budweiser Classic Friday for the Winged Super National and TQ Midget doubleheader. For the August 1st collection, all households that donate 1,000 or more cans will win grandstand general admission for one on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Classic Weekend.

The collection totals for fans will be kept for all three events. After the August 1st collection date the top twelve fans in season long donation totals will qualify as prize winners in the 2009 Novelis “Fan Can Chase”. The top donating household for the season will receive (2) 2010 Regular Season Pit Passes. The second place household will receive (2) 2010 Regular season Reserved Seat Tickets. The third place household will receive (2) 2010 Regular Season Sky Deck Passes. Fans representing households from 4th through 12th positions in the “Fan Can Chase” will all receive 2009 grandstand general admission for two on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Classic Weekend.

If the 2008 total of 147,911 is broken, the top three donators will have 2010 Classic Weekend added to their Regular Season Passes. All fans in 4th through 12th will also receive grandstand general admission for two during 2010 Classic Weekend in addition to their 2009 Classic Weekend admission.

Oswego Speedway will continue to donate all recyclable cans from the trash chutes after each race. The Scriba Lane Redemption Center will again be in charge of adding up all of the cans. The money generated from all of the fan and Oswego Speedway donations will go to Novelis for distribution to a charity of their choice. The Oswego Speedway donated cans will count towards breaking the 2008 season long total and generating the extra prizes for the 2009 top donating fans.

All fans are reminded not to split up their donations on the three can collection race dates. Several fans in the past have separated race date donations into different names and have missed out on season long prizes even after explaining that those multiple donations were, in fact, from the same household. Splitting up race date donations, in excess of 200 cans, will not result in additional $10 Food Vouchers being issued. As in the past, names and phone numbers will need to be on all bags turned in and a photo I.D. will be required as only one Food Voucher will be issued per residence. Food Vouchers will be dated for use on the date they are issued and must be used in one concession transaction. Food Vouchers are good for all menu items except beer and wine.

The 2009 Novelis “Fan Can Chase” offers more valuable tickets for prize winners at all three recycling collection dates and for the season long top twelve donating households. The twist of offering an instant $10 Food Voucher on three scheduled special event race dates will also be a new benefit for returning and new fans that participate in the Oswego Speedway and Novelis recycling can program for 2009.
