Two long time sponsors at the Oswego Speedway will continue to lead the regular classes of race cars in the 2009 racing season. Novelis and PathFinder Bank return as the division title sponsors for the Supermodifieds and Small Block Supers. Novelis enters their fifth year as the title sponsor of the Novelis Supermodifieds at the Oswego Speedway. After never having a title sponsor it is hard to believe that the class hasn’t always been called the “Novelis Supermodifieds”. The business relationship between the Oswego Novelis Plant and the Oswego Speedway has been greatly influenced by the response that fans have given to the recycling can collection events, held on three different race dates during each of the past three seasons. The Oswego Speedway donates all of the aluminum cans from the trash chutes each week. This total along with the cans donated by fans on the three collection dates has generated over 316,000 aluminum cans being collected in the past three years. Each year the total grows and the 2009 goal will be to improve on the 147,911 cans collected in 2008. Novelis will be conducting three “Get your Can to the Speedway” nights again in 2009. These collection dates will be May 23rd, July 4th and August 1st.
PathFinder Bank begins their third season in 2009 as the title sponsor for the PathFinder Bank SBS Series at the Oswego Speedway. The Small Block Super Racing Series marks their eighteenth season of competition at the Oswego Speedway in 2009 and PathFinder Bank will celebrate their 150th year of serving banking customers in Central New York. PathFinder Bank prides itself on being a locally based bank with local decision makers to help customers with all of their banking needs. The presence of PathFinder Bank as a division sponsor at the Oswego Speedway is a great way for them to support the racing interest of fans and racing efforts by drivers, where many fans and drivers are also customers of the bank. PathFinder Bank annually contributes $250 in U.S. Savings Bonds that are awarded as prizes in the Kids On-Track program by coordinator Patty Dixon.
All four major title holders from 2008 will be back in 2009. In the SBS division, “Mr. PathFinder Bank Small Block Super”, Dave Cliff and the PathFinder Bank SBS Track Champion, Kevin Knopp will be back in competition. On the supermodified side of the infield, “Mr. Novelis Supermodified” Bobby Magner and the Novelis Supermodified Track Champion, Otto Sitterly will be back as well. The Oswego Speedway welcomes back Novelis and PathFinder Bank as title sponsors for the Supermodified and Small Block Super divisions in 2009 and as race night sponsors on August 1st for the 23rd annual “Mr. Novelis Supermodified” and 18th annual “Mr. PathFinder Bank Small Block Super” feature events. |
