The first can collection on May 24th resulted in 15,192 cans being turned in by race fans. The top donation of 2,011 cans earned Ron Gunther (2) Sky Deck Passes for Friday and Saturday of Classic Week. The top three can collectors for the season will gather on Classic Sunday at the AT&T Interview Podium for a drawing of grand prizes to cap off the 2008 can collection program. The fan that has turned in the most cans will draw first. The fan in second place will draw second. The fan in third place will draw last. The three prizes in the bucket to be drawn are a pair of 2009 Season Sky Deck Passes, a pair of 2009 Season Grandstand Passes and a pair of 2009 Season Pit Passes.
Fans will be required to have their names and contact information on all bags of donated cans. Only New York State five cent recyclable cans benefit the Habitat for Humanity program. Fans also will have to show their paid admission ticket or Season’s Pass when filling out their registration slip. On May 24th, 12% of the cans turned in were not New York State five cent deposit cans and 5% of the fans turning in cans did not purchased a ticket for the races as they used complimentary sponsor passes. The Oswego Speedway awarded all earned tickets to fans for the May 24 th collection date as if everyone met the guidelines. The June 21st and August 2nd collection events will not award Classic Week ticket prizes where the guidelines are not met.
Novelis, the Oswego County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity and the Oswego Speedway thank the generous race fans that have donated over 200,000 recyclable cans since the program started. |
