After two weekends of long range forecasts for rain that have given way to good and great weekends, the long range forecast for the earlier than usual Oswego Speedway opener was also in doubt. All of that has changed and the first ever “Open Wheel Extravaganza” will go off as scheduled on Sunday afternoon May 7th at 1:00 sharp. A partly sunny brisk Spring afternoon will greet the fans and competitors who are in attendance on Sunday afternoon at the Oswego Speedway.

The Race of Champions asphalt Modified Tour will make their first of five trips to the Oswego Speedway and compete in a 75 lap feature. The International Supermodified Association is back with a two race schedule at Oswego for 2006. The May 7th date will open the ISMA season and all of the top stars will be on hand to run a 50 lap feature event. The PathFinder Bank Limited Supermodifieds will kick off their 2006 “Shell Oil - Power Ade - Hoosier Tire” points season at the Oswego Speedway with a 25 lap feature.

The weekend kicks off with an Open Practice session on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 5:00 which offers free grandstand admission for the fans. On Sunday the pits open at 9:00, the grandstands open at 11:00 and the first green flag of the 2006 season is set to be dropped at 1:00.

The Novelis Supermodifieds take to the track the following Saturday night, May 13th as the 56th regular racing season resumes at the Oswego Speedway with the annual supermodified “Coca-Cola Kick-Off”.
