Michael Barnes is slowly showing that his rapid climb through the divisions of cars at the Oswego Speedway is with good cause. Barnes picked up his second consecutive win in the Novelis Supermodified division on Alliance Bank and AT&T Independence Weekend.

Joe Gosek was the man to beat for the first half of the Novelis Supermodified 50 lap feature as he was looking for win number three on the 2007 season at Oswego. Gosek was black flagged with a commanding lead around the midpoint of the race with a leaking valve cover gasket. Barnes inherited the lead at that point but had to out-duel veteran Greg Furlong through traffic over the final eleven laps of the race to pick up his second win of the season. Otto Sitterly picked up his second consecutive podium finish with another third place run. After some early season accidents, Sitterly seems to be getting the handle on his new Hawk Chassis. Shawn Muldoon ran a great race with his new Hawk Chassis, picking up fourth place in just his second time out with the car. Randy Ritskes continued his mastery with one of the oldest chassis’ in the field as he brought the Rayvals #95 home in fifth place.

Gruel was one of the cars to beat all night as he picked up his heat race win too. Mike Bond looked to have something for Gruel but pitted to change a flat tire while running in second. Gruel held back the charges of defending Track Champion Russ Brown who cam e home in second place. Dave Cliff ran a great race and after giving up the lead to Gruel, he also had Brown pass him and he settled for third place on the night. Former 2007 feature winner Kevin Knopp came home in fourth.
