Oswego is said to be famous for two things, auto racing and ice hockey. This Saturday night the two join together as it is “Minor Hockey League” night at Oswego Speedway sponsored by Lighthouse Lanes, Warner Physical Therapy and the Oswego Sub Shop.

The Oswego Sub Shop is back on board as a race night sponsor here at the Oswego Speedway for 2007. Established in 1969, the Oswego Sub Shop is one of the areas favorite stops for a great sub. A Cheeseburger Hot Sub is a popular item on their menu as is the now famous “Al Roker” sub. The menu has expanded over the years to include salads, deli sandwiches and wraps. The Oswego Sub Shop has actively been involved in sponsoring many sporting events in the Oswego area for nearly forty years including the many hockey programs. They have a close friendship with Carolina Hurricane and Stanley Cup winner Erik Cole, from Oswego.  They have added the “Erik Cole” sub as the newest celebrity sub on the menu and you need an iron stomach to be able to enjoy that one. As a major sponsor of hockey here in Oswego, the Sub Shop is happy to sponsor this week's racing as all kids from Midgets on down that wear their Oswego Minor Hockey jerseys will be admitted for free.

Another familiar sponsor back in 2007 is Lighthouse Lanes here in Oswego. The Bowling Center is just across the street from the Oswego Speedway. Co-owners Nick Sereno and Bob Hoefer have been strong supporters of the Oswego Speedway for years. They have put their name on the Lighthouse Lanes VIP Tower and they have jumped into the competition with Double Deuce Racing in partnership with Bill Samuels. They field the #22 of Michael Barnes and the #2 back-up car which carried Barnes to a feature win last August 5th. Lighthouse Lanes is the place to go on Saturday nights after the races to watch the videos from the night. All year long Lighthouse Lanes is the place to go for league and recreational bowling. Late night Cosmic Bowling is a regular hobby of many area residents on Friday and Saturday nights year round. On Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 you can stop down to Lighthouse Lanes and see the Novelis Supermodifieds of Michael Barnes and Pat Lavery and the PathFinder Bank SBS Series car of Tim Barbeau. All three cars are sponsored by Lighthouse Lanes in 2007.

A new race night sponsor this week is Warner Physical Therapy located on East Ave here in Oswego. They are one of four neighboring businesses on East Ave, along with Bosco & Geers, Whites Car Care and RJ Caruso Accounting, that are part of the family of sponsors here at the Oswego Speedway. Warner Physical Therapy is owned by Brian and Amy Warner. The staff at Warners can handle all of your physical therapy needs from just a few visits for a minor injury or for long-term rehab from a major incident. Brian Warner enjoyed working with therapy patients in the past here in Oswego and took the chance when it became available to open up his own business. One of his patients this past winter was Steve Gioia Jr. who needed some rehab after rotator cuff surgery during the winter. Warner Physical Therapy can handle all of your rehab needs.

Oswego State Lakers NCAA Division III National Championship Head Coach, and Coach of the Year, Ed Gosek will be on hand for an interview about the successful 2006-2007 season that his team has recently completed.

The Oswego Speedway is proud to have Lighthouse Lanes, Warner Physical Therapy and the Oswego Sub Shop as sponsors on “Minor Hockey League Night”.
