The 2006 Oswego Speedway Awards and Hall of Fame Banquet went into the books on Saturday October 28th as a successful venture to the new site of the event, the Turning Stone Casino and Resort in Verona, New York. Several new awards were given out and the Hall of Fame Class grew by one very deserving member.
A fitting tribute was given to the Oswego Speedway Safety Crew and one of its members was awarded the inaugural "Ed Clark Spirit Award", named after the popular Safety Crew member who passed away this past season. The Safety Crew also had their lighter side exposed in a comedy video which will be added to the Oswego Speedway website in the coming days for all to view who weren't in attendance.
Two brand new Classic Trophies were unveiled for both divisions which will recognize all past and future champions of those two season-ending races.
The new 2007 logo was shown off for the "Novelis Supermodifieds" and the re-named Limited Super division had its new logo and name on display as the "SBS Racing Series at Oswego Speedway".
Sponsor speeches were given by Dan Dorsey of Budweiser, Tom Schneider of PathFinder Bank, Carol Dillabough of Novelis and Kevin Petrocci of Fleet Pride. Additional businesses represented at the Awards Banquet included Burkes Home Center, Oswego Quality Carpet, Jakes Automotive, Wholesale Diamond Exchange, Lighthouse Lanes, Outdoor Power, Community Bank and Uno Chicago Grill.
