Novelis, the leader in aluminum rolling and can recycling worldwide has signed again in 2006 as a major sponsor at the Oswego Speedway. For 2006 Novelis will be sponsoring the 20th Annual “$10,000 to Win” Mr. Novelis Supermodified race on July 22nd. They will also continue as the title sponsor for the Supermodified cars that have raced at the Oswego Speedway since 1962. In addition, Novelis will also help to provide additional weekly support to the race drivers as the Oswego Speedway has announced a higher race purse for their two main divisions in 2006 with help from sponsors including Novelis.

Novelis, formed as an independent aluminum rolled products company in 2005, is built on 90 years of Alcan corporate values, technologically advanced processes and disciplined management systems. Buddy Stemple, Vice President and General Manager, saw the positive connection between the Oswego Speedway and the introduction of the new name “Novelis” to the community. “With thousands of fans in attendance at the Oswego Speedway on a weekly basis from May through October, it made sense to partner up with the Speedway and put the Novelis name in front all of those people. The large Novelis fan base at the Speedway, combined with aluminum can recycling and Habitat relationship, as well as the fact that the cars on the track are aluminum intensive make this a perfect combination.” stated Stemple.

expotruck1.gifThe Novelis partnership with the Oswego Speedway goes far beyond a few signs at the Speedway and a corporate night for employees of the Oswego and Kingston, Ontario Plants. With Novelis being a worldwide leader in can recycling, there are Habitat for Humanity recycling “houses” on site at the Speedway throughout the entire racing season. “Being able to return a donation to the Habitat for Humanity program was an important part of our partnership with Novelis” stated Oswego Speedway co-owner Steve Gioia. Several signs are on display both and outside of the Speedway for Novelis in 2006. Examples of the Novelis signage can be seen in the Oswego Speedway Marketing Video on the newly launched website at www.oswegospeedway.com.

The Oswego Speedway is proud to welcome back Novelis as a major sponsor in 2006 and introduce new Oswego Works Manager Tom Boney to racing at the “Home of the Novelis Supermodifieds”.
