In an eight day span starting this Saturday night at the Oswego Speedway on Burkes Home Center and Lighthouse Lanes "Track Championship" night, competitors at the Oswego Speedway will be competing for over $300,000 in purse and point standings money. The twice re-schedule "$10,000 to Win" and "$1,000 to Win" features for the PathFinder Bank Limited Supers and Novelis Supermodifieds will be run this Saturday, just one week before the 50th running of the Budweiser International Classic 200.
The extra week off from competition since August 12th gives teams more time to get their cars in shape for this Saturday. The racing schedule will be filled with seven former winners of the big money races. Doug Heveron, Greg Furlong, Mike Ordway and Tim Gareau will be entered in the "Mr. Supermodified" race and Rob Pullen, Mike Bond and Star Matteson will be set to go in the "Mr. Limited Super" event.
In the Supermodified division, although the Hawk Chassis' of Otto Sitterly and Tim Snyder / Joe Gosek have dominated Victory Lane to date, several older chassis that have been updated are threats for the top spot as well. The Lighthouse Lanes #22, Craig Rayvals’ #94, Jerry Curran’s #24, Bob Bond’s #25 and the Xtreme Chassis #89 of Todd Stowell have all put in solid performances in 2006.
On the Limited Super side of the pits, it has been a new winner almost every week out with defending Track Champion, Russ Brown, not being able to get to Victory Lane in the very competitive division. Predicting the winner of the "Mr. Limited Supermodified" feature is virtually impossible going into this Saturday night.
All drivers in both divisions look to make it through the night unscathed as the biggest race of the season is staring them in the face next weekend here at the Oswego Speedway. Point standings will be decided on Saturday night. Will Russ Brown win his third Track Championship in the PathFinder Bank Limited Super class? Will Otto Sitterly get his first Track Championship in the Novelis Supermodified division? It will be a sprint to settle the big purses and point fund money this Saturday night and it will be a marathon to decide the Classic Winners in each division next Sunday.
Don’t miss the action on Burkes Home Center and Lighthouse Lanes Track Championship night this Saturday featuring the Oswego Quality Carpet and Ferris Industries Super Stock Classic and the Novelis and OCNB "Mr. Supermodified" and "Mr. Limited Super" features.
Novelis will be holding their final aluminum recyclable can collection event in front of the Speedway from 3:30 to 6:30. All fans buying a race ticket and donating 100 cans will receive two free Friday tickets for Classic Week. Each additional 100 cans will earn fans an addition free Friday ticket. On June 24th, generous fans donated over 14,000 cans and this past Saturday, on a day when the races were rained out, fans donated another 10,000 cans to benefit the Oswego County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
All "2 for 1" Discount Passes that have been won in the racing game will be honored this week. All other "2 for 1" passes will not be accepted for the “Mr. Supermodified” show. For Racing Game winners that won on August 12th, you will need to bring your Eagle program to the Box Office to pick up your two adult admission tickets for the price of one.
