726WilliamsVL_200.jpgA very warm and humid night at the Oswego Speedway greeted the first visit from the 358 Dirt Modifieds since 1992 on Wednesday night July 26th. In fact, this was also the first Wednesday night race at the Oswego Speedway since a four race series was staged for asphalt modifieds back in 1973. Nineteen Dirt Modifieds ventured to Oswego for the special sponsored by Gater Racing News and Valvoline Express Care.

Modified heat races were won by Joe Williams (19), George Foley (34) and Tim Fuller (19). Fuller was a pre-race favorite to pick up the win and ran fast in warm-ups and en route to his heat victory. Unfortunately, Fuller developed engine problems as the field was getting ready to take the white flag for the 35 lap feature.

The 358 feature was won by Pat Dupree (24) with a very close win over Willy Decker in the (1x). Leon Gonyo (4) finished third, Pierre Berthiaume (20) was fourth and George Foley (34).

The balance of the finishing order was Terry Hayes (01), Fran McNeil (6), Andy Powell (3), Chad Blair (16), Jim Introne (9), Billy Shantell (99), Tim Fuller (19), Mike Perrotte (35), Fred Proctor (54).

The RoC Sporstman Mods ran their feature together with the 358 Modifieds and the winner was Joe williams (19). Luke Monroe (33m) finished in second, Bill Tanner (91) was third, Fred Amann (1a) was fourth and Jamie Yankowski (33y) rounded out the field.

In the NORA Limited Super division, it was the first win of the season at the Oswego Speedway for the defending Limited Super Track Champion, Russ Brown (13). Mike Barnes (25) picked up second in the closing laps over Rob Pullen (2) who finished third. Kevin Knopp (94) finished in fourth and Shawn Walker (68) rounded out the top five. Tim Barbeau who led the first twenty two laps of the twenty five lap feature crashed into the fourth turn wall on lap twenty three after being overtaken for the lead by Russ Brown. Barber Boy heat races were won by Rob Pullen (2), Kevin Knopp (94) and Tim Barbeau (50). The complete order of finish and lap charts can be viewed in the AMB Scoring section of the Results Tab on the Speedway website.
