OSWEGO, NY (July 8, 2014) – Otto Sitterly, Oswego Speedway’s six-time and defending Novelis Supermodified track champion, will be teaming with Dave Shullick Jr’s. Bodnar built winged Supermodified team for Saturday night’s King of Wings VI summer spectacular at the ‘Steel Palace’.

A winner of 29 Novelis Supermodified main events at Oswego, ranking 10th all time, Sitterly has attempted wing action off and on at Oswego through the years with Nicotra racing but has yet to score a top five finish in doing so.

Saturday, Sitterly will have a prime winged opportunity as he will drive the racer nicknamed “Fire” out of the Shullick racing stable, the same machine that currently holds the Speedway’s overall track record with a lap of 14.972 seconds.
Shullick will contend Saturday in “Ice”, the newer of the two Bodnar built Supermodifieds.

The nicknames Fire & Ice come from the red and blue vinyl accents that appear on each respective Bodnar Supermodified.

In a previous interview, Sitterly commented on his desire to race with a wing more often.

“Racing with the wing is very exciting to me,” said Sitterly.  “It is not like racing with a wing is better, or a move up, but it is something that I have not been successful at, and there is no doubt in my mind that I could be.”

The teaming of Sitterly and Shullick began last year leading to the 2013 running of the Budweiser International Classic 200, as Shullick joined Sitterly as a part of the Nicotra Racing team for Supermodified racing’s biggest event.

Since then, Shullick has paired with Sitterly on two other occasions including the 2013 Fall Championship and the 2014 Jim Shampine Memorial 75, in which Shullick charged from 24th on the grid to a third place finish.

Now Shullick will reciprocate, putting Sitterly in his team car for the prestigious King of Wings event, which has seen two other Oswego regulars’ cash in with Bob Bond driving to victory lane in 2010 and Dave Gruel in 2012.

Initial plans were to have Sitterly in the race car at the Speedway’s last ISMA Supermodified event in June, however Shullick had engine issues at Sandusky Speedway in May, pushing Sitterly’s debut back until this coming weekend.

Look for Shullick to again be behind the wheel of a Nicotra Racing non-wing Supermodified during the 58th annual Budweiser International Classic 200 on Labor Day Weekend.

Once again part of King of Wings at Oswego Speedway will be the Speedway’s Old Timers Reunion, which will take place at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego beginning at 10 a.m. featuring former Speedway drivers and restored race cars.

Tickets for the reunion are $16 per person which includes all non-alcoholic beverages.
