The 2011 Oswego Speedway Hall of Fame class includes, a racing pioneer whose family has had a great impact on the track, one of the major sponsors of the Oswego Speedway, a Small Block Supermodified star, who made his mark starting from the first year of that division, and one of the all-time greatest Supermodified drivers whose illustrious career spans four decades. In addition, an “in memory” group of five people who helped grow the track from its very beginning and are no longer with us will also be added. The nine new members to the Oswego Speedway Hall of Fame will be inducted at the annual banquet Saturday, October 29 at the Holiday Inn on Electronics Parkway in Syracuse.

 In one of the most exciting finishes in speedway history, Otto Sitterly shot his way by teammate Mike Lichty in between turns three and four on the last lap for the win in the International Classic 200 race Sunday afternoon.  Sitterly took the white flag in the back bumper of the Lichty 6 car, then pulled alongside then by the 6 as they exited turn four coming down for the checkered flag at the end of the race.

Andrew Schartner and Chuck Hossfeld added Classic Weekend trophies to their cases as they each picked up big feature event victories Saturday evening at Oswego Speedway.  Hossfeld was in control of the ROC Modified 200 thought-out the event for his victory, while Schartner earned his biggest career win ever as he led all 100 laps of the SBS Classic.

   Classic Weekend 2011 kicked off with a bang Friday night as Alison Cumens and Chris Perley won feature events at Oswego Speedway.  Perley picked up career win number seven at Oswego as he won the winged 55-lap Bud Select supermodified race.  Cumens became the second female to ever win a feature race at Oswego Speedway, as she outraced everyone to the checkered flag in the 25 lap ATQMRA 25 lap main event.

     “I’m feeling fine,” are the best words Stephen Gioia III could have said as he looks forward to returning back the International Classic field this year.  Stephen missed the 2010 version of the Classic, as well as the entire 2010 supermodified racing year, due to his accident on lap 10 of the 2009 International Classic.
