On Saturday October 4th, high school students from across New York State will be racing student designed and built electric race cars under the lights at Oswego Speedway. The “New York Electrathon” event continues the tradition of linking the Oswego Speedway up with teenagers and educational programs such as the Oswego County BOCES metal fabrication students that has built five “Mini-Supermodifieds” for the Kids On-Track program at the speedway.

“Cutting our schedule back has been a good thing for us,” top modified driver Lee Sherwood said as the 58th annual Race of Champions approaches. “I cut my schedule back this year, to focus more on my boys racing, and in return it has helped my own program. Cutting back a bit has helped us be more prepared when we get to the track.

Race of Champions weekend is one where there is wall to wall racing. If you are a race fan, it’s a smorgasbord of action, as if it has four wheels and a fender, you will probably find it racing this weekend.  It’s a big cross over weekend, as many drivers will strap in multiple divisions this weekend, looking for that elusive checkered flag. Rick Kluth is one of those drivers that will see double duty this weekend.

The excitement has been building all season long and now the long anticipation is over as the 58th running of the Sunoco Race of Champions Weekend will take place this Friday and Saturday at the Oswego Speedway.  The Modified 200 portion of the program is slated for Saturday with the winner earning a minimum of $10,000.

The 2008 Oswego Speedway Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet will be on Saturday October 25th at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino. Room reservations can be made by calling 1-800-771-7711. The 2008 Hall of Fame class will be inducted on that night. Six deserving inductees will represent the four categories of Driver, Owner, Officials and Special Achievement.

A night of laughter and fun will be had by all as Farnham Family Services and Radio Disney join together for the first annual Farnham Family Fun Night on Friday, September 5th from 6-8 p.m. at the Oswego Speedway. According to Jeanne Unger, MS, Executive Director at Farnham Family Services, the event is a collaborative effort between Farnham, Radio Disney, the Oswego Speedway, Dougherty’s Inflatable Rides, and Red Planet.
