OSWEGO, NY (July 11, 2013) – Race of Champions Weekend at Oswego Speedway will once again feature the hometown Novelis Supermodifieds as a part of its main event schedule on Saturday, July 20.
The event, which will count toward the year-long Supermodified ‘Road to the Championship’ at the ‘Steel Palace’, will run a total of 100 green flag laps and will be split into two 50-lap segments.
At the conclusion of the first 50-laps all racecars will be brought to the center of the infield pit lane, with the race leader stopping at the pit push off line. Any car that needs to return to its pit stall cannot be worked on until the first racecar is pushed off for the second segment.
Once the last racecar stops in the center pit lane a 15 minute clock will start on the Speedway’s main scoreboard. At this time only three crew members will be allowed to work on each racecar, allowing them to check and reset air pressures, make chassis and set-up changes, as well as refuel. No tires covers will be allowed to keep heat, and tires will not be allowed to be changed during the stop.
Supermodified teams must fuel for 50 green and 65 caution laps for each segment.
Once the 15 minute clock hits zero, the first car in line will be pushed back onto the Speedway. Any car that is not ready at this time will be sent to the rear of the field.
The second 50-lap segment will restart in the same order in which the first completed, barring there are no penalties during the break. There will be no inversions of any kind during the 100-lap event.
A reminder to fans, the Race of Champions Weekend schedule will run earlier than a normal Saturday night at the Speedway.
Practice for the night will begin at 1pm with qualifying events scheduled to hit the Speedway at 3pm. The night’s qualifying will begin with a Super Stock consi followed by RoC Modified time trials, Supermodified heat races, and RoC Modified heat races.
The night’s first feature event is scheduled for 4:30pm with the Super Stock 75.
The 100-lap Novelis Supermodified main event is set to take the green flag on Saturday, July 20 at approximately 6pm followed after by the RoC Modified 200 at 8pm.
The Novelis Supermodified 100 will pay a handsome $3,200 to the race winner, with a minimum of $500 being paid to qualify.
