Social Media Runs Wide Open at Oswego Speedway
FOLLOW or LIKE and have the chance to win 2-FREE Speedway Tickets
OSWEGO, NY (January 12) – As the hype and excitement continues to build for the 62nd season of racing at Oswego Speedway in May, the entire racing community has the chance to be Speedway insiders with the simple click of a mouse or smart phone key stroke. For the first time in Speedway history fans, sponsors, and teams alike will be able to receive daily updates through social media outlets Facebook and Twitter.
While www.oswegospeedway.com will continue to be the main hub of Speedway information, social media outlets Facebook and Twitter will be used heavily in the future to distribute a wide array of information. All you have to do to take part is Follow @OswegoSpeedway on Twitter or LIKE the all-new (Official) Oswego Speedway Sports Venue page on Facebook.
Those who FOLLOW or LIKE the Speedway through social media before the Speedway’s open practice session on Saturday, April 28 will have the chance to win 2-FREE tickets to one regular night of competition at Oswego Speedway. The winner will be drawn during open practice on April 28 to allow fans the opportunity to make plans should they want to use the tickets for the opening night of the racing season.
“As the world of technology grows, so too do the ways that people receive their information and it is no longer just on a daily basis but now minute by minute,” said Oswego Speedway Public Relations Specialist, Danny Kapuscinski. “By fully opening our doors to the world of social media, we fully open the doors of Oswego Speedway to the masses. Using these tools, the sky is the limit now when it comes to providing fans with superior coverage, but also providing our outstanding marketing partners with all the exposure they deserve.”
In recent weeks the Speedway has begun to get up to speed with both Facebook and Twitter by posting daily updates of driver and team registrations, historical flashback photos, team press releases and fundraisers, and also video clips from past races. Fan interaction has been well received.
“We noticed an immediate response once we started using Facebook in a more frequent manner and also with the introduction of our @OswegoSpeedway Twitter page,” said Kapuscinski. “We want our fans, sponsors, and teams to know and understand that this is just the beginning. Event promotions, lap by lap LIVE race updates, instant race night photos, and also weekly race highlight videos and race recaps will be the norm.”
As the season progresses, the Speedway also plans to introduce an all-new Oswego Speedway YouTube channel. This channel will allow everyone on the web to go to one central location to check out video highlights, promos, commercials and more to help them gear up for future race nights and relive past nights.
“We’re planning on really ramping up our online presence in 2012,” said Kapuscinski. “At the same time, we also look to increase our exposure in traditional media outlets. The plan is to get the word out about the new and exciting things happening here at the Speedway and put this track back on the map. Print and television advertisement will be crucial along with our website www.oswegospeedway.com, but the aggressive use of social media outlets will help push us into the era of new media and give fans the up-to-date information they crave.”
